Vanilla

With ES2015 (and beyond) implemented in major browsers, developing in plain vanilla javascript (without any libraries) became much more sensible.

Zepto

Zepto is build as a lightweight variant of jQuery, supporting the same syntax, but with less old browser support (e.g. from IE10+).

underscore.js

Underscore is a more advanced library, but its development is getting less attention.

Lodash

Lodash has become the default library for modern javascript development.

MooTools

MooTool is no longer being actively maintained.

jQuery

jQuery is the most well know and most used javascript library to this day. Its accessible for beginners as well as experts. Its signature style is the $ character followed by a selector. It continues to be in active development even after 10 years.
